Services
The Camden Eye Center provides the following services:
Vision and Eye Health Examinations
An eye examination by an eye care professional every one to two years is important for all ages. A full eye health and vision examination checks a person’s visual acuity, eye movements, peripheral vision, pupil responses, color vision, spectacle prescription, intra-ocular pressure and examines the structures in the front (cornea and lens) and back (optic nerve, macula and retina) of the eye. The examination ensures the visual system is functioning to it full potential and decreases the risk of visual loss associated with lazy eye (Amblyopia) and other eye and vision disorders. Early detection of ocular dysfunction is imperative to prevent irreversible vision loss.
Low Vision Services
Low Vision Services is a specialized area of eye care which deals with those individuals who have impaired vision secondary to an eye disease. This vision loss is permanent and cannot be corrected further by glasses, contact lenses, or medically (through surgery or medication). The most common causes of permanent visual impairment are age related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease. Individuals with vision loss will have difficulty with their overall visual functioning, especially when performing the basic tasks of activities of daily living. Examples of this includes near tasks such as reading and writing and distance tasks such as watching television or spotting faces.
Ophthalmological Services
The staff of the Camden Eye Center includes a board certified ophthalmologist. Referrals to the ophthalmology department are made by the Center's professional staff and other referring healthcare agencies. Most commonly encountered conditions include glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and strabismus. Minor eye surgery is performed on-site at the Center. Consultations and evaluations are available for refractive surgery.
Geriatric Eye and Vision Care
An annual comprehensive examination by an eye care professional is recommended for people over the age of 55. As we enter our golden years, we are more at risk for developing such visually debilitating conditions as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts.
Early detection and intervention of eye diseases are important to prevent irreversible loss of vision. A yearly eye examination can reduce the risk of vision loss.
Pediatric Eye and Vision Care
Eighty
percent of learning comes to a child through
his or her visual system. Therefore,
vision is an essential element in early childhood development. Yet,
vision disorders are the fourth most common
disability in the United State and the leading cause of handicapping
conditions in childhood. The
Camden Eye Center's SIGHT FIRST FOR KIDS program
provides comprehensive eye care services for
all children to remediate refractive ocular
motor, perceptual and binocular dysfunctions
that may be interfering with normal vision development.
Contact Lens Service

The contact lens service of the Camden Eye Center features a wide variety of contact lenses to fit all types of prescriptions needs.
Nearsighted, farsighted, astigmatism, bifocal and specialty colored lenses are fit by our doctors in a professional environment.
Patient training on proper contact lens use as well as thorough follow-up care ensure a comfortable and healthy contact lens wearer. Please call us for any questions regarding your prescription and one of our doctors will gladly discuss your case with you.
